Reid Ribble operates one of the most successful roof construction and consulting companies in the United States. He is a high school volleyball coach, board member for the YMCA of Fox Valley, and a married father of two. In short, he is a regular guy. Any other year pundits and party officials would deem him unqualified, but things have changed.
Mr. Ribble has decided to put his successful career in roofing on hold to run a tough race for Congress. He decided to run because of the horrific policies of the democratic Congress and the massive national debt.Why he wins our Endorsement
For a person that does not have a flashy Ivy League education, Ribble has demonstrated a true mastery of the issues and promotes clear common sense solutions. He is a true proponent of limited government and a strong proponent for restoring the effect of the Tenth Amendment in national policy. He is also a strong proponent of the Second Amendment and the rule of law. Ribble is not beholden to any special interest or some small wealthy or well-connected constituency. He wants to be a statesman who looks out for the national interests and not just parochial or party interests. He is not well-connected to any big names or political organizations, which is a great virtue in a time where dramatic top-to-bottom change is necessary in Congress. This will be his first run for office. He is as far as you can get from a career politician. His mastery of the issues, his statesman approach, and his success in the private sector has earned him our endorsement.
Election Prospects
The incumbent is democrat Steve Kagen, first elected in 2006. The 8th district had a conservative lean until 2006, when voters became fed up with the Republicans. McCain managed to get 45% of the vote in 2008, after Bush had easily won the district with 55% in 2004. Kagen first won the seat by only 2 points and has never been particularly popular in the district. Ribble is one of several candidates running for the republican nomination, but he best embodies the conservative values and Founding principles of this country. Due to the competitive primary and a well-financed democratic opponent, Ribble will need strong fundraising support in order compete with Kagen. Congressional Quarterly rates the race as “leaning democratic”.
